Emergency
A living world whose creatures are written by an AI as it runs: species rewrite their own code to survive, crown rulers, wage wars and pray to you, the hand above.
Overview
Emergency is a small world that runs live. Its creatures aren't scripted: each species' look and behaviour are real code, a drawing routine and a 'brain' function, that an AI writes and rewrites as the world goes on.
When a species is starving, losing a war or has a new idea, it rewrites itself. Settlements hold councils and pass decrees, crown rulers, invent things like armour, and declare wars for reasons of their own. It all goes into a running chronicle.
Visitors are the hand above. Rain bread on them and they notice: they pray to you, keep count of your gifts and change what they do. The Journal and Minds panels show what the AI is thinking and the code it has written.
